Thank you for your interest in Successful Kids Learning Center, a subsidiary of Successful Kids Learning Solutions, Inc. As a practicing registered nurse and certified diabetes educator residing in Clayton County, Georgia I am keenly aware of the devastation experienced by families who manage chronic disease. A diagnosis can cause impact in many areas of a person’s livelihood. The Georgia statistic for obesity, diabetes and other chronic conditions is astounding. Because of the rising obesity rate among children, it is estimated that more and more baby boomers will outlive their children. The loss of a child is not a planned event for any parent. Yet considering the healthfulness of our children’s diets, our society has collectively and seriously failed in protecting them from future disability and chronic disease. As a healthcare provider, it is necessary for me to be progressive, knowing that many of these conditions are preventable. Early lifestyle intervention is necessary to reduce the burden of these devastating statistics. I am deeply troubled when I hear that we are facing generations where the burden of obesity along with obesity being a major contributor for the development of other chronic diseases will negatively affect our nation’s businesses, economy and military readiness. We must cultivate the mindsets of our youth to be conscientious concerning health and self-care. We must start at an early age to assist our youth to acquire a taste for blended well-balanced food consumption. Our goal is to use food as a vehicle for social change. We believe when families reclaim the kitchen as a place to bond with and educate their children, communities become stronger and more equipped for the struggles of daily life. Bringing people together around food is one way to build community for creating social, racial and economic justice and change. We are committed to assisting families to build healthy foundations. Our mission is to provide educational and enrichment opportunities that build strong children, empower families and fortify communities. The words of Frederick Douglass “it easier to build strong children than to repair broken men” perfectly communicates our goal. Our aim is to build educated leaders for life.
